Some sports stars know exactly what the future holds for them when they are done playing games, with many going into business and others undertaking philanthropic ventures.

However, there are those who simply do not know how to let go of a sport that has been their everything since their formative years.

Often these are the athletes at the very top of their respective fields; those who were willing to sacrifice everything to get to the pinnacle, but then find it a lonely and vacuous place.

Here are some former sports stars who may be tempted out of retirement for one last hurrah.

Mike Tyson

Boxers are always the last to quit and the first to make an ill-advised comeback, with greedy promoters and managers willing to push a fighter out into the spotlight for one last pay day.

Iron Mike is arguably the greatest heavyweight of all time and when he recently started posting pictures of himself destroying heavy bags, while looking in incredible shape, it seemed only a matter of time before he would make an announcement.

Odds are already available for his proposed exhibition bout against fellow great Roy Jones Jnr. But anyone who knows a thing or two about Tyson’s career will be aware that this tenacious fighter probably doesn’t know how to take it easy on an opponent. So if you do find a sports free bet or two going spare, it could be worth you backing the “baddest man on the planet” by knock-out.

Colin Kaepernick

Through no fault of his own, Colin Kaepernick has been enduring something of an enforced retirement over the last few years, although recent rumors suggest he could be due an NFL comeback in the not so distant future.

There are plenty of NFL franchises whose offense would be greatly improved by a quarterback who is as adept at running the ball as he is launching it, so we wait to see who will take the plunge and sign him up. At the age of just 32 he certainly still has plenty to offer.
